Re: Swap file

Thanks for reply but I need a solution on how to clean the swapfile.

When this happen I use Explorer, else the computer is running most 24 hrs
but right now I need more space on my disks. When moving or erasing files
there is other programs in background but they are there all the time.

Its only while using Explorer I got problem.

My question was how to clean the swap file as Windows cannot manage it?
Forget about the Explorer, the problem is still built in in Windows and has
always been.

I dont care if Nortons, malware or Explorer is the "mal" program. It should
never happen in a modern OS that is paid for. Windows is not freeware and it
should work.

I dont expect Linux to be better if freeware but MS selling this "mal"ware
without support and thas very bad. I have paid for it and I want a working
OSso that I dont need to reboot every 15 minutes.

Someone here must know how to clean up the swapfile.

What spyware/malware programs are you using? Explorer itself will not
create a huge swap file. If you had a clean install of XP before you
install any programs at all, try moving the files around or doing whatever
else is creating a huge swap file. I bet you'll notice that it runs very
smooth with little to no swap file increase. Then install one program at a
time and test again. This way, you'll find the culprit and be able to stop
blaming it on explorer.

I have a new XP install with all shields up before connecting to net.
I have Nortons Internet Security. Its firewall and AV, several malware
program.
The only mal I have installed is Explorer and it has been the problem with
all Windows. I never saw Windows 1 and the first one I really used beside
MSDOS was Windows 3.
Window works very slow as it need to make swapfile bigger and bigger.

I dont set this size, its Windows. And Windows cant still handle the size
of
swap.

I have 2 GB RAM and now the swap file is building to 3 GB.

Its 5 GB memoryjust to move files between disks.

With my old install I skiped the swapfile and it was better but I think I
cant do that now as I use more memory for some programs.

But the problem with big swap file is only when moving files AND I also
use
thumbnails to see images. Move or erase.

If I dont use the tumbnails I instead will need to open a lot of files and
that will probablyuse even more memory.

I have seen a lot of complaints here that Explorer cause memory problems
but
no solutions on that problem yet.
