Status bar - registry experts help!

Hi,

I'm a minimalist, so what im about to request isn't necessarily a
problem, but rather a preference. I've done plenty of online research,
and I've found no help regarding it. So before I head off to modifying
the registry (which i doubt plays a big role in this), i thought I'd
ask the experts..

The status bar in Windows Explorer (not internet explorer) is of a
great help to me, but it shows additional information that I do not
need to know..and sometimes redundant. I'd like to get rid of this.

To better explain, here's an image:

This should be universal; not limited to a specific file type, but to
all types. I do not want that little metadeta strip, but I do want the
megabyte summation on the corner.

Thanks

.
