I looked at the links for the Event Log and wasn't able to find any
information that suggested what to do for my problem. Either that or I
didn't understand the technical language (which is probably the real reason
if I told the truth).
The single beep during boot for AMI BIOS apparently indicates a DRAM Refresh
Error like Bob_I suggested. I checked my ram and both sticks are listed on
the Kingston site as being recommended for my M/B. They are two idential
sticks: KVR333X64C25/512 512MB 333MHz DDR Non-ECC CL2.5 DIMM. I ran two
different tests on the RAM and both say the RAM is OK. I ran tests on the
SATA HD's and they seem to be OK.
I was unable to delete the Hiberfil.sys file as suggested in Bob-i's link
because I when I tried to boot with the WinXP CD it wouldn't let me access
the SATA HD's (couldn't find C:\ ). Is there a way to access C: on a SATA
HD using the WinXP CD or Boot Disk?
Any other ideas? Thank you all so much for your help. Mike
As soon as the XP disk begins to boot you are prompted at the bottom of the screen to press F6 to install additional drivers. Press F6 when you see it and install drivers for hte SATA drives when prompted to install the extra drivers.
2 Things:
Keep an eye for the F6 prompt or you may miss it.
You won't be prompted for the additional drivers until the XP disk finishes loading it's files.
