If you boot from cd, the cd will be unaware of the origonal o/s, as its
using files from th cd.
You can slipstream the sata/raid controler drivers into a new installation
cd.

Before you get to the 'R' stage, you need to load the controller
drivers... this is done in the first part when the cd loads... it
getyou to hit F6... do that and supply the drivers on a floppy. You can
these off the manufacturer's website generally. Note, you don't want the
drivers for you hard drive, you want them for your sata controller.
