To remove an AutoComplete entry from a Web form, highlight the item in
the AutoComplete dropdown and press the Delete key.

To remove all Web form AutoComplete entries, go to the Internet Explorer
Tools menu, select Internet Options, Content, AutoComplete, then press
the "Clear Forms" button.

Clear Forms button
[[Click this to clear your History folder of all entries you've
previously made in Web pages. This ensures that nobody else can use your
computer and attempt to view any private information you've previously
entered, by viewing what entries are listed by AutoComplete.]]

From IE Help...

To delete Autocomplete entries from the Address bar list

The AutoComplete feature saves previous entries you've made for Web
addresses, forms, and passwords. To delete entries from the Address bar,
you must clear your History folder. You cannot clear individual entries
from the list of saved entries.

1. On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.
2. Click the General tab.
3. Under History, click Clear History.

Notes
When typing information in Web forms, and typing passwords, you can
remove an item from the list of suggestions by clicking the item and
then pressing the DELETE key.

Besides the Run MRU (Most Recently Used) list, this also clears...

IE History, AutoComplete, Clear the TIF, Clear the Run MRU, Typed
URL's and Clear List:

XP Start Menu:
You have to switch to Classic long enough to get the Clear button.
Right click the Start button | Properties | Select Classic Start Menu |
Customize button | Clear button | Click OK | Select Start menu | Click
Apply |Click OK

Classic Start Menu:
Right click the Start button | Properties | Customize button | Clear
button

Clear button
[[Removes the list of recently accessed documents, programs, and Web
sites from the Documents menu.]]

The XP Start Menu Clear button does not clear the Run MRU. The Classic
Start Menu Clear button will clear everything in the Run MRU.

Hello, this is my first post and no surprise its a question.

We share this one PC in our home and although I make every effort to
keep my adult activity on the down low, my best efforts to keep file
history from showing up here and there is hit or miss. With my kid
using this thing as well I'd like to know its clean.

I know how to delete temporary folders, recent documents, clear cookies.
and I know how to execute such things as prefetch, %temp%, sfc
/purgecache. All work well, but I still don't have any luck removing or
clearing file history in the file type dropdown windows of various
programs. Almost all files are useless, but they just hang around and
there is absolutely no way that I can find, even with telephone support
to remove these from these lists.

Does anyone know how this can be done?

Thanks

T

This was exactly what I needed. Very clearly exlpained. Took me 2
minutes.

Thank you.
