If you are going to post the same question to multiple groups, do it

different newsgroups separately. This leads to duplication of effort

OK,Rock. Sorry. What are the rules if you decide after to post to
another group? Is this strictly forbidden? How long should I wait for
a response before I am entitled to an after thought?
I'm not Rock, but I'll throw my two cents in, if you (and Rock) don't mind.
First, it's not a matter of rules. It should be avoided, not because it's
against the rules, but simply because it's bad practice. Multi-posting is
bad because it wastes everyones time and gets you poorer help.
If you later decide to post to a second group, and end up multiposting even
though you never intended to, by all means do so. It's certainly not
forbidden. But it would be polite to add a note to the second message,
explaining that you had already posted in the first group, and added this
one as an afterthought, and explain why.
