Hi,
Have you tried removing the computer from the domain and then adding it back
in with the new name?

RajKohli,
ok I will write down the error message next time. Is the User Name on the
top bar of the Start menu? I normally use FirstNameLastName for computer
name and user name is FirstName LastName. Is it ok?
Thanks,
Scott

You must write us the proper error message. The tips is: avoid using
Periods
and Spaces in Computer Name. Computer name must be unique. Try a
different
name and computer name must not be the same as User Name.
Hope this help, let us know!

Extending Taskbar in 2 Rows can be useful, if you want to see Date along
with Time.

I have a computer who has a computer name of previous employee. The OS
is
Windows XP Pro and is a member of the company domain. I log on an
administrator of local computer and a client of the domain with
administrator right to change the computer name. It keeps on telling me
the
bad name. I downloaded some VBA utilities to change the registry
automatically without success. I changed the computer names many times
on
other pcs successfully and at loss why the name cannot be changed on
this
pc. Can someone share with any tips I might overload to resolve it.
Many thanks,
