A friend is connecting her new notebook (windows xp) to the internet for the first time. And is intending to
download the free zone alarm firewall and free avg antivirus.
Is she at much risk from virus before the pc fully downloads the zone alarm, if she downloads zone alarm before doing anything else? Or is there a safer way to go about this please?
Certainly, there's a risk. However, this can be mitigated by ensuring that WinXP's built-in firewall is enabled before connecting the new computer to the Internet.
