SB Audigy 2 ZS and 100% CPU usage

Hello,
I have recently done a complete reinstallation of Windows XP. I have
updated all the drivers incl. the one from Creative Labs to the most
recent version. For some reason, sometimes, especially when I watch
movies with Media Player 11, the Task manager shows 100% CPU usage for
about a minute or longer. Everything else naturally slows down. I have
checked which program is using up these cycles and it shows that it is
only a svchost.exe. If I end the process by force I loose all the
sound capability of Windows. Under Audio everything is greyed out.
I have a Dell Inspirion 8600 laptop with SB Audigy ZS (PCMCIA). I have
been using this sind ages without any problem, sine recent
reinstallation and update I get this problems though. During rebooting
I always hear a crack noise through the speakers as well.
I have Driver version 2.9.16 installed.
One last thing I should mention is that I had previously the Feature
Mode Selection Utility succesfully installed. These little thingy in
task list that chooses the optimal performance of the sound card -
choice between high performance through speakers or standard
performance through laptop speakers. Even though I used the Drivers
on the CD in first place and then updated to the most recent drivers, I
dont have this feature installed. Therefor I cannot even update the
critical patch for it:
"Feature Mode Selection Utility update for Creative PCMCIA Sound
Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook 2.10.06"
I don;t understand why it doesn't show up in the task list anymore. I
did a full installation from CD. Could the problems I have be related
to this one here?
Many thanks for your support,
Houman
