open the string you advised - "We’re sorry, but we were unable to service
your request. You may wish to choose from the links below for information
about Microsoft products and services."

Unfortunately, I am not so computer literate as many, and I am at a complete
loss how to proceed.

You have a high tolerance for going mad. Hopefully you haven't used it
all
up, eh?

Does it happen if you boot into safe mode? If not do some clean boot
troubleshooting to see what is loading at startup that's invoking this
message.
