I can see that this is another way we get "stung" by the "evil empire".
Computers are continually advancing in their abilities, so people want to
upgrade their PCs so that they can take advantage of the benefits. But we
can't upgrade the motherboard, processor, and memory without significantly
changing the machine the OS is originally installed on.
No wonder piracy is so prevalent. We can't upgrade our computers without
helping to keep Bill on the top of the "World's Richest" list by buying
another copy of Windows.
Jeez, what a stupid way of licensing. How hard would it be to make the
license transferrable from one machine to another? And what happens if you
drop your laptop and it breaks? What if you decide you want a PC instead
of a
laptop. Kind of ridiculous IMO.
A RETAIL copy of XP is transferable from one machine to another.
