you are likely referring to the
famous hibernation feature...
the option should be avail
via your power control panel
there is more information on it
via microsoft.com.
but if you have a problem with it
let us know....

Hi,
When I first got WinXp I remember being very impressed that I could
reboot the computer with browser windows still open and those browser
windows restoring after the reboot. It may have restored any program
that I had open, I don't remember. But specifically I'm interested in
using that feature for the IE browser. Over time that feature has been
turned off apparently, and I would LOVE to turn it back on.
Does anyone know what this feature is and how I can turn it back on?
Any help would be most appreciated!
Regards,
JustUs
