Cannot Delete Registry Keys

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I am trying to delete keys in the registery on a Windows XP
professional system and everytime I attempt to delete regsitry keys, I
recieve the error message, cannot delete key. I checked the
permissions on the key and the permissions are set correctly, also I
tried under different profiles and under safe mode and for some reason
I cannot delete the keys. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Thank You,
Albert
