Re: Slow Boot and Scratchy Sound

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hello again. I think that you and McCarty helped me a lot.
Today everythink worked good. Normaly today the problem would happen. I
looked at the event manager. there i found a disk error . event ID was 11 and
i was told to replace the cable.
MEssage was. The driver detected a controller error on %1.
I was editing the registry (see answer of Mccarty) and i added the keys
ResetErrorCountersOnSuccess. Maybe that will help but there is still an error.

I think now i know the problem and u helped me a lot. Thank you again.
Greetings from Luxemburg

And if you determine it was the channel on the motherboard, I'd return it.

Hello Bob, its me again
How can i move to a different channel. Did u mean soft or hardware moving?

thanks again a lot

Try the drive manufacturers drive diagnostic utility(d/l it from their
web site), move the drive to a different channel, one other possible is
to replace the data cable.

Hi Bob , thank u for the answer. Today i wrote an image back before that
happenend again. There the channel shows ULTRA DMA MODE 6. So i think it must
be that problem. how can i find out if it is the drive or channel.

"Bob I" wrote:

Remove that one and allow it to reinstall so as to reset it to use DMA.
If that fixes it for the short term, then you have a hardware problem
with the drive or channel.

hello bob
there are 4 primary ide channels
one of them is in pio mode

Just a thought, look in Device Manager, and see if the primary IDE
channel has reverted to PIO mode due to drive errors.

I've got a new PC. Dual Core with 2 Gb Ram. I installed all my programs on
it. After 4 days the PC hung up. After i restart, booting took around 4 - 6
minutes. And the windows sounds and sounds from games sounds scratchy. When
i play music and i open a window like control panel the music gets scratchy.
I installed again and after 4 days the same thing. During a 3D game i heard
the
ingame sound very scratchy. And i had Problems to leave the game with the ESC
key. I had to end it with the task manager. It takes again a long time to
boot. what could that be? can somebody help me. Is there a windows file that
grows up?
