I am sorry if I didn't make my message clear. I will start at the beginning.
I thought it was important to go to windows update and download critical
security updates so I did. I also set up automatic updates.
I recently downloaded IE7 and SP2. My automatic updates show that I have a
security update KB927978 and the installation fails.
I have been trying to fix this problem by looking at other similar problems
in the newsgroup. It seems that lots of people are having trouble with that
security update.
The 1st thing I tried to do per many suggestions was to download the
msxml.msi listed in blue and save it to my desktop. Doubleclick to
automatically run it and then to select remove. I tried that and got the
icon on my desktop, but never got the prompt asking to repair, remove etc. I
tried to install it and it read that the installation was unable to install
probably because my computer was in safe mode.
Actually the 1st thing I did was send it to microsoft and they replied to
download that msxml.msi and do that. It didn't work.
Some other people in the newsgroup suggested to go in through windows
directory and delete all of the logs ending in kb927978.enu.log which is what
I did.
It seems to be an installation and uninstallation problem.
I hope that made it more clear for you computer gurus.
Please respond...someone said this vulnerability is serious.

Unfortunately your post isn't very clear. Why don't you start out by giving
a history of the problem. You have given us somewhat of a snap shot right
in the middle of things without explaining how you got to where you are.
I have deleted 91 files with msxml4-kb927978 from my computer and now it is
running even slower.
What do you mean that you deleted 91 files with this udpate? How does one
delete files with an udpate? You also state the computer is running even
slower. Slower than what? Before the update or after the update or? Was
the computer not running well to begin with?
This computer is only 4 months old. I am not a
computer literate person. Please somebody give an answer that works.
We need to know what the problems are. Did this computer ever run well?
In my add/remove there is a security kb925672, but it won't uninstall. My
computer says that there is an installation problem, perhaps due to
windows
running in safe mode.
Why are you trying to uninstall it? Why from safe mode? If you're trying
to uninstall it why is there an installation problem?
I also tried to download the msxml.msi SAVE to desktop, (I don't know how
to
close a browser)
You don't know how to close a browser? What does that mean? You just click
the X in the upper right corner of the browser window or does that not work?
double click on desktop ikon and REPAIR, REMOVE and WHATEVER
never shows up.
Whty would you expect Repair or Remove to show up if you're trying to
install something?
I go ahead and try to install it and it says there is an
installation problem probably due to windows running in the safe mode.
Are you running in safe mode?
Is this something anyone understands or should I take this piece of junk
back to DELL?
Please HELP me learn how to fix this.
THANKS BLUEGRASSFOOTBALL OUT
Did you try doing a factory restore back to the state it was in when you
received the computer?
Review this link on making a good newsgroup post and resubmit with more
information on the problems starting from the beginning.
