Try the fixes in this article:

Or this article:

Which ever you feel describes your issue better...

Then...
Start --> Run --> type in:

oobe/msoobe /a

--> Click OK.

Activate by phone if you have to...

"your issue"!?

More proof that activation only inconveniences the paying customer
and does nothing whatsoever to stop piracy. The above fixes are
totally unreasonable and shouldn't be required to activate a
program that is bought and paid for.
You had three choices there, Alias...

- Speak about how activation inconveniences not the real pirates,
but the paying customer...
- Not say anything at all...
- Help someone out...

You chose to advocate your standpoint instead of providing help to
someone who is stuck in a position. A position that will not be
going away no matter how many times you interject without helping
at all or until Windows XP is no longer supported and Microsoft
releases some sort of patch that allows Windows XP to be installed
without activation since it is no longer a supported OS. I
seriously doubt the latter will occur in any case.
You didn't even know if your suggestion would work. I know what I
said was true. I was hoping it would give the OP some information to use
when they ended up having to call MS to activate software they
already paid for.
What am I saying?
State your case all you want - but also provide some assistance
when you do..
I do help people a lot in these groups, as much as I can.

You know, like...

"*sigh*

Yet another case of Microsoft screwing the legitimate paying
customer when they know the actual pirates just get around the
protection anyway... However - for you, here is what you might try to fix your issue...

<insert fixes here>"
Call MS and give them holy hell.

Hell - you could even insert where to download the cracks or the
full downloads or whatever else is out there you think would
resolve the person's issue instead of just using every little case
as a soap box.
I don't do cracks or illicit software.

Personally - I
would be more willing to listen to the person on the soapbox if
they also offered me the assistance I wanted instead of just using
me as their launch pad... But maybe that is just me?
It's just you. I help people a lot on these groups. My comment was
to YOUR post and how YOUR post is a BIG inconvenience to have to go
through to prove that one's copy of XP is legit.
Just a suggestion...
Help when you can, but especially when you are trying to get
people to listen to you.
Just a suggestion ...

Search for my posts before you say what I do and don't do.

Know I spoke of ONE of your tendencies - not all.
I know you help people.
You did nothing here but make an ass of yourself.

The one making an ass out of itself is MS for creating the anti piracy programs that don't stop piracy and only inconvenience paying customers.
