Doesn't need one ?, not sure how that works. It might help to know
what program or technology is being used to communicate. The mic
settings are available from the Sounds and Audio Devices properties.
Located under the Voice (TAB), Voice recording category. Clicking
the Volume button will bring up the Windows Mixer where you can
select Microphone and adjust volume.
I'm not really well versed on things like VOIP ( Voice over IP ) and
other similar technologies. Maybe someone who understands what
you're trying to do can be more helpful.

No I do not have a microphone. My friend says I don't need one?? She also
communicates with her sister and she says she doesn't have a microphone.
Where do you find the microphone setting anyway??? Is it the Sound and
Audio Device? I made sure it is not set to mute on my PC.

Do you have a Microphone connected to your PC ? All PC's
have a input jack on the sound card panel to accept one. The
Pink colored socket is the PC-99 standard for Microphones.
If you do have a Microphone you have to use the Audio mixer
(Recording mode) to select it as the default input device and
make sure it's not Muted and that the volume slider is at a level
appropriate to be heard but not distorted.

I have a friend who is able to communicate with me over my speakers. She
says I can do the same by going to Tools and taking the mic off mute but
I can't find the setting. Can anyone help me?
