i think i'll need the loc of the quicklaunch containing folder and
manually cut/paste but idk where it is.

To restore the Show Desktop item, just create a new one:

Credit MVP Rick Rogers - Copy/paste the below into notepad, then click
file/"save as" and call it "show desktop.scf" and drop it on the desktop.
You can drag it from there to the quicklaunch bar.
