Re: 20-30 sec surfing lag after short idle time?

Modem connects directly to your PC ? if so with a USB or
traditional Ethernet cable ? Sounds like your NIC or USB
Root hub is "Napping" and the delay you note is due to the
time required to wake up the connection.

The problem: After I let PC set idle for 30 mins or longer, I click on any
web site and the network (bellsouth dsl) takes 20-30 seconds (each and
every)
time to start downloading data. I can time it by looking at the data light
in
the DSL modem.

The odd thing about it is:
When it once starts surfing, it's normal (meaning; it loads pages as soon
as
I click where I want to go) and stays good untill idle again. It use to
work
fine.

It's something that has happened to my desktop XP pro system, I've tried
my
sis laptop on the same DSL and it works fine. I have 2 gig P4 with 1 gig
ram
and tons of drive space on 2 drives.

I've tried to create a new user profile and that didn't fix the problem.

It's very annoying to say the least.

Any help would be fantastic!!
