Ok here is the problem. On any XP machine (process of upgrading
everyone to XP from 2000, plus management didn't listen to me that
proper testing needs to be done prior) on the domain (2k native
domain), when you try to open 'All Programs" there is a delay of
between 20 seconds and 1 minute before it opens up. Until it
opens, it freezes the computer. This occurs on any XP machine one
they are joined to the domain; they are fine and act normally
before hand. It also occurs whether they have been upgraded from
2k and have lots of programs install or a brand new image of just
XP.

I have adjusted both the menudelay in the registry from default of
400 to 50 and unchecked "Fade or slide menus into view". This also
happens on a variety of machines. From lower spec to brand new
ones with 2 GB of RAM.

The really weird part is that after you 'open' "All Programs",
there is a good chance it will act normally for the next 5 minutes
to an hour. But when it doesn't, there is the same delay that may
be just as long as before. Now since the only real commonality is
the domain that is were I am suspecting the problem lies; I just
posted here as networking and server really don't seem to fit as
it is a client problem. But as to where and why I have no idea. I
have checked the GPO's and didn't see anything out of the
ordinary. Also there are no strange settings that are applied to
the images, just stock default install.

If anyone could give some ideas on where to look or need any more
information, just let me know.

Look for icons/shortcuts in the start menu that point to

Thank you. I feel kind of stupid now that I didn't check all the
links before. Seems there was an orphan link that was being created
in the start up script.

It happens.... After all - how do you think I thought to suggest that?
