Re: Windows updates change font size

Not quite sure what your saying, but NEVER use winupdate for drivers, use
only manu sites, in your case Dell
Remove the nvidea drivers in add remove
On reboot if MS tries to auto detect vid drivers cancel
Visit Dell site, download/install their vid drivers

Yes, one of the updates was: Nvidia Corporation - Video - Dell 8100
NVIDIA display software update released on June 24 2003. There was a
second
one that failed to upgrade. I rolled back the upgrade and had to upgrade
it
back to Dell 8100 because with every boot up, it ran scan disk. I did try
to
restore in safe mode and it still would not allow any changes.

You may have configure autoupdates to update everything, including
drivers
Start>Winupdate, when the page opens and becomes active click on update
history. Then check for any driver updates that have been installed.

Thanks to all for your concern. I have tried changing Display
settings
including DPI settings and the basic problem remains. It has affected
everything on my system, including my Quicken to the point that I can
hardly
see the print. The problem is on my office laptop Dell 8100 so I will
try
again tomorrow. Everything was fine until I allowed the updates to
load
and
paid no attention to what was updating. I do not understand why it
would
not
allow me to do a restore to a point before the updates were installed
although it may not have corrected the situation.
Thanks again and keep the suggestions coming as I am trying them all.

Any ideas??

A few things to try:

- Open Display Properties, click Themes tab, Windows XP (theme).

- Open Display Properties, click Settings tab, slide the Screen
resolution and watch the results in the display.

- Open Display Properties, click Settings tab, click Advanced
button,
increase the DPI setting. This can make the characters in a window
overrun the fixed-sized window though.
