I've been trying to write to a CD-R. Should it be CD-RW?

What is the make/model of your CD/DVD drive?
What type of CD are you attempting to write to?
(CD-R or CD-RW?)
Are you just trying to use the built in Windows XP functionality or a third
party application?

You didn't answer all his questions. How are you trying to write to it? What software and what steps?
