Pegasus:
Sorry for the extended delay. Broke my ankle learning how to snowboard. No
longer at the resort where the anomaly occurred. Everything on all machines
works fine, both at hotel pending travel home, hotel at arrival in NC and
here at home. So, whatever the issue was, it was peculiar to the resort's
wireless network. If you have a moment, I would be interested in your opinion
as to what you think might be the cause. I have a BS in computer science so I
know the basics in Windows but have limited Networking knowledge. I did not
receive your last reply until after we left the resort and I know that
running IPConfig on a network that isn't giving me any trouble wouldn't
provide any useful info. Thanks again for your efforts and Happy New Year to
you and yours.

I suggested three tests:.
- Ping the site by its IP address, e.g.
Pinging 24.28.193.1
- Ping the site by its name, e.g.
Pinging www.rr.com
- Use a browser to access the site,
e.g. www.rr.com/flash/index.cfm
You did No. 1 but you reported nothing about No. 2.
Let's have these results!
You should also do this on your two PCs:
- Click Start / Run / cmd {OK}
- Type these commands:
echo %ComputerName% > c:\test.xt {Enter}
ipconfig /all >> c:\test.txt {Enter}
notepad c:\test.txt {Enter}
Now post the contents of this file from each PC.

VERY INTERESTING. When I ping www.rr.com on the machine that does get out,far.
the requests time out but that machiine does still bring up the web page.
But, when i piung it with my machine that won't bring up that page, I am
getting replies but they are from the gateway here at the resort.
I have already sought help from the "IT guy" for the resort and I probably
would have been more successful going to the 7-11 for help.
I think you are on to something, what next? And thanks for the help so

Respectfully, Bob
You might have incorrect networking parameters. Try
taking one step at a time by doing things in this order:
- Ping the site by its IP address, e.g.
Pinging 24.28.193.1
- Ping the site by its name, e.g.
Pinging www.rr.com
- Use a browser to access the site,
e.g. www.rr.com/flash/index.cfm
You can find out a site's IP address by pinging it by its name
on one of your other machines.
