I'm not sure why you posted in this manner. I posted a message here, then realized that this is not the correct place for IE7 questions. I specifically noted in my introduction when I posted in the other newsgroup that I seldom post in more than one group and was posting a duplicate only because I could see that it was a more appropriate source for my question.
So, I will also apologize to this group. I do *not* make it a practice to crosspost.
Mary, crossposting to a select few, appropriate groups is ok. Crossposting means sending the same message to multiple groups at the same time. That way everyone sees the message and all responses no matter in which group it was made. This can only be done using a newsreader. The web interface does not have that capability. What one should not do is multipost which is posting the same question to different groups but separately. This duplicates effort because some people respond in multiple newsgroups and it's hard to keep track how one responded elsewhere.
You're using OE which has the facility to crosspost. In this case you didn't realize until after you posted to windowsxp.general that the internet explorer newsgroup might have been more appropriate. Stuff like that happens - no big deal. I just wanted to clarify that crossposting, in certain cases, to a few relevant groups is ok.
