If you added that entry manually, then the uninstall process would not know about it and would not
remove it. You will have to manually remove it the way you added it.
If the install process added the entry, then it should *ideally* remove it.

Anando,
Thanks for the answer. To be sure I understand you, are you saying if I
uninstall Ghost it will remove the entry that I accidently added to the "Open
With" list?

Milt,
You are referring to a shell extension, which is totally different from MRUs. Refer to the
documentation of the Norton Ghost Program to uninstall the program completely.

Anando,
I understand what MRU files are. But I don't know why I need them or what
they do. Specifically, I'm looking at them because I have a problem. I
accidentally added a Norton Ghost program, "v2iMountSvc", to my "Open With"
list. That was a mistake and I want to remove it. I thought I eliminated it
from the "Open With" list yesterday by removing it from my registry in
HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts.
But today it returned! And I'm wondering if perhaps it may be generated from
an MRU file.
Thanks for your interest,
Milt

Hello,
MRU stands for Most Recently Used. Various applications including Windows XP keeps a various

I've recently become aware of my "MRU" files. I understand what they are. I
don't know what good they do. And I don't know if they cause any problems.
I would like to know if it's wise to leave them alone or if I should delete
them, and why.
Thanks,
Milt
