When I do click it, it brings up the desktop within explorer.

Which one?
Look in the Address bar.

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop
C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Desktop
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name Here\Desktop

Or maybe it just says Desktop in the Address bar?

If so, click on the Folder icon on the toolbar in Windows Explorer or My
Computer to show the tree view in the left hand, Folders pane.

Is it the very first item in the Folders pane on the left?

I am just shooting from the hip here. ;-)

Thanks very much for your reply Wesley, but as I said in my original post,
when I right click it I get only 3 things on that little menu and they are
"open", "explore", and "shortcut", and only the "explore" works when I
click it. When I do click it, it brings up the desktop within explorer.
Any other suggestions? Something has obviously gone wakky on my system
and would just like to correct it is all.

What's its name?
Listed in the box at the top.

What's its Type?
Just below the box at the top.

What's the Location?
Below the Type.

If it says Target type instead of Type, the folder is a shortcut to a
folder. There will also be a Target box, that inof can be highlighted
and copied.

One at a time highlight the info, right click, select Copy and paste into
Notepad or whatever.

Paste all of that into a message and post back.
