I have uploaded my Windows XP into another computer. After a month or two It locks up on the window screen. I have to call for a code to enter. Is there anyway to get around this. I am going to load it onto one of my older puters that has window 98. Will I have to call again to get the code to unlock it.
You cannot (legally) run one copy of XP on more than one computer at a
time. If it's an OEM version, it's valid only for the first computer
it's installed on (even if that machine ceases to exist), otherwise
you can move it to a different computer if you remove it from the
original machine.
For retail XP, what is the proceedure to "uninstall" XP prior
to moving it to a new computer?
Reformatting the old drive works.
