to my COA my version is not counterfeit. Now here comes Vista with all
it's new genuine checking ***. Not a chance in hell will I purchase it.
BTW I called Dell to inform them they
are selling pirated copies of xp. I also purchased the machine directly
from Dell so no middle persons involved. Just when you think you are save,
along comes microsoft.

I am not looking for any questions or answers, I am just going to change
the drive out and
go with Linux.

Are you sure that it was Dells fault? Maybe Microsofts pirate software
checking sytem just needs a patch and you'll be alright again.

Maybe you should contact Microsoft and talk with them and let them know
you've found a bug. On second thoughts, you're probably better just going
over to Linux afterall.
