I have a COMPAQ. I tried to create a restore cd of winxp pretty much
right away but it wouldn't create one.

Anyway shortly after windows went &*%$!#!! and I lost the restore partition.

So I bought a winxp and installed it on the computer

I needed to find out what sound driver I needed to make the sound work.

I called India to speak to the Compaq heldesk. Paul I beleive his name was
helped me. All I wanted was the driver name but he said the only option
was to buy their restore disk for what was it 40 dollars.

OK no help from paul, he told me have a great day yet it was pretty dark
out side.

I hung up the phone and though oh AC97. Downloaded and installed and
there was sound. Hurrah

Now, I want to install XP on another computer because I have two liscences
but the Genuine Advantage seems to keep me from validating the WINXP

I have two liscences but only one install cd. Can I call Microsoft India
helpdesk and get them to validate the windows on another machine?

Mike from microsoft India had told me that I would have to get a copy of
windows from Compaq but like I said they want 40 dollars.

My question.

Can I use one CD to install WINDOWS XP on mutiple computers if I have
mutiple liscences and have them validated?

The important aspect in installation and activation is the license key. The CD is not unique. As long as the CD matches the type license key, then the same CD can be used to install and activated on different computers as long as a different license key is used on each.
