All:
XP Pro SP2 ... the SATA HD is failing on my HP DeskPro dc7600. I have a
replacement drive in hand. This thread is just ambiguous enuff to give me
a
wee bit of hope that I can slap the new drive in the box, and mirror my
failing drive, thus saving this critical admin workstation without going
throught the chore of rebuilding the damn thing ... again ....
any hope of that at all?

HulloSon:
Are you referring to "mirroring" in the sense of a RAID configuration? Or do
you really mean "cloning" the contents of your "failing drive" to a new HDD?
If it's the latter, then you can use the disk copying (cloning) utility that
nearly every HDD manufacturer provides either in the retail box of the HDD
or generally available from the manufacturer's website. And, of course, if
you have a disk imaging program such as Acronis True Image or Symantec's
Ghost you can use that type of software to undertake the disk cloning
process.
When you refer to a "failing drive" it is assumed that the *data* on that
drive is free from corruption and perfectly functional should it be cloned
to a non-defective HDD.
