I used a plug and play IEEE 1394 camera, which worked for a while as well as
an IEEE 1394 external hard drive, which also worked for a while. Randomly,
both stopped working. 1394 is enabled on my bios, and the controller shows
up in the device manager. However, none of the devices I plug in to the 1394
port show up. My camera shows that it gets power from the port and my hard
drive has external power.
I reformated my hard drive to reinstall windows and it worked temporarily.
I also bought a PCI to IEEE 1394 card, which also worked temporarily.

My current status is: both my motherboard 1394 ports and my PCI 1394 ports
do not show any devices when I plug them in. The 1394 controlers show up in
the device manager:
Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller
VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controler

Both my hard drive and my camera work on other computers, so it's not my
devices. They do not need drivers, they are simply plug and play devices.

Please Help!

My current computer specs:
Windows XP Pro SP2 and all current updates
Mobo: Asus A8N32-SLI
RAM: Ballistix, 4 x 512 Mb
Video Card: EVGA Geforce 7950 GX2
CD Drive: ASUS
Power: 560 W silverstone
Hard drives: 1 10,000 RPM WD Raptor, 74 Gb running as a Silicon Image SATA 2
drive
4 x 7,200 RPM WD Caviar Drives at 250 Gb each running in Raid 0 + 1.

try removing the drivers for the ieee controller then rebooting then
reinstalling them.

Flamer.
