Video input device not recognised?

I had been using a Texas Instruments O.H.C.I compatible 1EEE 1394 Firewire
card with Windows 98 to input DV from a Sony camcorder - I sometimes had
this following problem but by switching things on or off - was able to deal
with the problem and input DV video.

I have installed this card into my new PC with Windows XP Media Center
Edition but neither of the two programs installed on the system Window Movie
Maker and ROXIO My DVD will recognise the device to enable video to input.

Neither these programs or Windows XP seem to very helpful in addressing the
problem. They refer to configuring the device but how to do this does not
seem to be very clear or to be possible.

The 'Device Not Recognised' message does come up in Movie Maker when the
camcorder is switched on. So it at least recognises it to some extent.

The card looks to be installed OK and the hardware is recognised as
installed and working correctly.

I have checked that the camcorder is still able to input DV video via
Firewire cable to the DVD recorder and it is. The problem is getting the PC
and these programs to recognise the device.

The only difference with the set-up is that I have purchased a new Firewire
cable - as I seemed to have lost the original one but I would thought this
would have helped - rather than hindered.

Any help would be much appreciated.
