Re: Restoring My Computer...

I do, completely understand, 100% this is a peer to peer newsgroup. I don't
understand why you're so rude. However, thanks for your help and I'll try to
find some other answers to my problem. Thanks.

For the repair install the links said I need the cd, but my laptop didn't
come with the cd.

Now what? =/ Thanks for your help so far though.

Alright, I tried F8. I did the options "Safe Mode", "Safe Mode with
Networking", and "Last Known Good Configuration."

My login screen is still black except for the message that says this
exactly,

[title of pop up] Parser Message
[body] Value creation failed " at line 30
[button] OK

When I click ok the message pops back up and it's an endless cycle. Any
help?

Alright, earlier I posted about having troubles with LogonXP's and
Windows
Themes. With the problem solved long ago, I was happy with my new
themes
and
logons. However, one logon didn't work and I didn't notice this
problem
only
after I had signed out of my account. The screen is entirely black
and
I
get
this weird message basically saying the logon wont work. When I
click
on
"ok"
the messages pops back up and it's an endless cycle.

That isn't the problem, however. I held the power button until it
shut
off
(since there was no option on the screen to shut it off) and then
turned
it
back on. Knowing there's an F() button to push when you want to
restore
your
computer right when it's loading, I pressed all the F(#)'s buttons
as
fast
as
I could. I got a few different things but none of them had the
option
to
restore my computer so I can't go back to an earlier date to fix
this
problem.

If anyone has a solution, please help me! Very appreciated.

Restore your computer how and to what? It's not clear from your
message
what's going on. Are you saying you can't login to the windows at
all?

There might be some sort of restore function that is invoked by a
function
key that was installed by the computer OEM, so if that's what you're
talking
about then contact the computer's tech support.

Repeatedly pressing F8 just as the BIOS screen disappears should bring
up
the Advanced Options menu with choices such as Last Known Good
Configuration
and Safe Mode. Booting into safe mode you could try running a system
restore.

Otherwise you need to better describe the problem you're experiencing
and
what you're trying to accomplish.

You're next step would be to try a repair install. See the link above.
Make sure you have a full and complete backup of all important
information.
A repair install should retain programs and data but you know computers,
unintended things do happen.

You'll have to use whatever recovery method is in place for your system,
either recovery CD's or a recovery partition. Often times this means a
destructive process, i.e. it wipes the drive and installs an image as
received from the factory. Then programs will need to be reinstalled from
their original media and data restored from a backup.

If you don't know how the recovery process works with your laptop contact
the laptop manufacturer's tech support site for info.

As an aside I think you should always have an XP installation CD rather than
a recovery disk or recovery partition, and this is just one example of why.

Lastly, understand that this is a peer to peer newsgroup. Everyone who
posts in here is a volunteer who does so on their own time to help others.
You need to have patience in waiting for responses - sometimes it can take
24-48 hours before someone who might know the solution sees your post and
responds. No one owes you any particular level or type of support.
