first off, sorry if this has been answered over an over again
and believe me I have search this newsgroup but I am just
not sure what to do..............
a friend of mine windows XP Toshiba laptop won't start up properly.
it keeps returning to the same page over an over again
the options on the page are....
safe mode
safe mode with networking
safe mode with command prompt
or last known good configuration
I can boot into the safe mode but when I try booting using the last
option, last known good configuration it brings me back to the same
page.
from what I read here I think I should try System Restore first and
if that doesn't fix it then a System Repair, right?
the problem is seeing that it's a Toshiba all that came with it is a
cd that says..........."Recovery and Applications/Drivers DVD Satelite
A55 Series.
any ideas on what I can do from here???
Steve
once again thats for any thoughts and/or sugguestions
thanks for any thoughts or suggestions.
I didn't see this post until after I sent my last message. From safe
mode
did you try a system restore?
yes I tried several dates without any luck, I even when back
to a couple dates in October. the problem I have is seeing
that it's a Toshiba all that came with it is a DVD that says...........
"Recovery and Applications/Drivers DVD Satelite A55 Series.
it didn't come with a copy of Win XP.
Any XP installation CD will work for booting into the recovery console.
Rock,
This Recovery and Applications/Driver DVD sure won't help me,
the only optinons it gives me is to 1) install software and drivers-and
none of them appear to be Microsoft programs or driver or 2)
restore and delete all files.
It looks like I am going to need a retail copy. then I found this
article
http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,112479-page,1/article.html?findid=49362
First off this laptop doesn't have a floppy drive, but I was wondering
if there is anyway to put the files from this article onto a cd just
to get to the Recovery Console
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=E8FE6868-6E4F-471C-B455-BD5AFEE126D8
I know it seems like alot of work and it might not even work,
I'm just about ready to use the Tosiba's "Recovery and
Applications/Drivers DVD Satelite A55 Series and delete all
the files and restore it.
Does anyone else have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Steve
