I have the following issue:

no matter wich program I use every time a program tries to access
the internet it 'crashes' i get the following error: "'Any Program' has
encountered a problem and needs to close". I thought it was some error
of the IE but I also tried firefox and i get the same error. I do get
to see my main page on both explorers but just 2-3 secs after load it
crashes

i thought it was some sort of adware/malware so I decided to run
spybot search & destroy and Windows defender. First of all i wasn't
able to get the update definitions to windows defender, and when i
tried w/ spybot and i chosed Update, it connects and downloads some
info but just 2-3 secs after that i get the error "Spybot Search &
Destroy has encountered a problem and needs to close" and the program
crashes.

the same happens w/ Msn Messenger or any other program that needs to
use the internet.

i opened a cmd prompt and did some traces and those work just fine,
the applications are the only ones that are not working.

This computer was working 'just fine' last week, i moved to a new
place and changed ISP, but i don't think that is the problem.

So far i've managed to run some programs by reinstalling them, is
there any other way to make things work w/o reinstalling???

Please advice,

This behavior can be caused by defective/badly written software installed on
your computer so look in the Event viewer for any Particular App causing this.
1- First Clean your IE caches,Internet Files and cookies from the IE
Properties.
To do that Click start >> Control Panel >> Double Click Networking and
Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options, on the IE Properties window
click on General Tab then on [ Clear History..] Button to clear the
History,click
on
click on [ Delete Files..] Button to delete internet files and click on [
Delete Cookies..] to delete your cookies.
Then still on IE properties click on Advanced Tab, scroll down under
Browsing option and unchek this:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable third-party browser extensions (Req Rest)
click on Programs Tab and then click the Manage Add-Ons Button there Disable
the None/Not Verified Plug-ins/Add-ons and Click [OK] to confirm your
settings and close the IE Properties window then
Reboot your Machine and try to surf.

2- Open a run command and type: sfc /scannow click [OK] and wait for it to
finish you may be asked by the system to hand/Insert in the XP CD so get it
ready.
Reboot and see if the Issue will be resolved.
Please perform one step (1,2) at a time and see if it resolved the problem.
HTH.
Please let us know.
