Re: Start menu subfolders not allowing drag/drop for arranging

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Right click on Quickdocs and select Explore.

Start Menu\Quickdocs folder will open.

Try managing your other folders and shortcuts from there.

Milo-in-San-Diego <MiloinSanDiego@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> hunted and
pecked:
Back in January, I reloaded XP on a computer after a hard drive crash on
and some setting is different this time around.

On my start menu, which I keep in Classic Mode, I have a few folders for
things I access frequently. One of these is called Quickdocs and has
shortcuts to a bunch of files I use a lot.

Before the crash, I could rearrange these shortcuts on the secondary menu
that pops up after I click on StartMenu/Quickdocs. Now they are stuck in
alphabetical order and it won't let me rearrange them to put them in
groupings that make more sense to my usage. I don’t want to sort them
on some field OTHER than name. I just want to be able to rearrange them
manually with drag and drop to group common things and put most used ones
near the top.

I've pasted a screen print at http://www.improventures.com/play/temp.htm
to make it clear what the problem is. You can see that both the
sub-folders and the documents WITHIN those subfolders are in alphabetical
order that cannot
be changed.

I've already verified that the “Enable dragging and dropping option
is set right, so that’s not it. I CAN drag-and-drop items on the Start
Menu itself…just not on the sub folders that are in the Start Menu
itself.

What do I need to change? thanks!

PS: I did post this months ago and never got a response. I know it's bad
form to re-post, but after so long, I'm hoping someone can help now.
