Re: Is it possible to retrieve a lost folder?

This sounds familiar.

I will give you different answer this time though, from the one I gave you initially.

At this stage of the game, with the additional activity that your hard disk has now clearly undergone (your system restores + your installation / use of file recovery software) you now really need a pro with the relevant tools (physical tools, not just software) to have any realistic hope of recovering it.

If that is not financially possible then this is good software, with which you can search your hard drive, sector by sector, byte by byte for retrievable data.

WinHex

For example, if you remember portions of text from files you can do string searches for them, and copy blocks of data into new files

Problem more seriously restated:
I accidentally overwrote a very important folder by an empty one of the same
name. How can I retrieve the overwritten folder with all it's files? I have
tried several file recovery software, but none seem to detec it as deleted. I
have tried system recovery as well, like it has been suggested; however,
system recovery does not alter user-made changes to files or folders,
therefore the overwritten folder remains overwritten.

If it is definitely impossible to achive a full recovery, I could still
benefit from some sort of index of the files that were in the overwritten
folder, (not the actual file, just the filename) Any software?

Any ideas are welcome.
Please note that, as from today, I cannot reply any futher due to an
important appointment with my bed. However, I will harvest and thoroughly
read, review, and answer, each reply during the course of tomorrow.
I immensly appreciate each word of advice, for this is a folder of
extraordinary importance.

And thank you for hitherto reading this statement, withouth pay. You may
think this it sounds silly, you probably would change your mind after
experiencing the degree of lack of human generosity reached in developed
countries, oftentimes moved only by money. Even my cousing requested me money
for his advice! Formus like this one are among the few places that provide
the much needed help to poor many, and I am truly grateful to all
knowledgeable people who spend their personal, unpaid time to help those in
need, and allow these forums to exist.
And now exuse the extented paragraph and my absence, for I cannot miss those
important appointments.
