Re: DOS command

Thanks for replying. When I tri to run Parition Magic 8.0 in Windows
XP, which is normal use and I have done it before, I get the error
message Then I do RUN/cmd to get the DOS prompt.

I used the full files names and I can get to ProgramFiles folder, but I
can't get to the one called Partition Magic 8.0. I think the 8.0 is
the problem, but I'm not allowed to rename it.
I know the file is there. Beyond that there is a folder called DOS
which has an executable file which is problably the one I need. Bt I
can't get to it via the DOS comand.

The original cause of the problem is an error in the boot
table/FATtable or somethinglike that in partition F. I thought that
deleting the partition would delete the problem, so that's why I ws
trying to run Parition Magic. Is there some other way I can get rid of
it? Then I was going to create a new F or move its space to partition
E.

Why don't you use DIR command while inside Program Files directory to see a
list of available directories? The right path could be: \Program
Files\PowerQuest\PartitionMagic 8.0.

If using Windows XP then you don't have to use 8 name conversion to change
directories. You can use long names like CD "PROGRAM FILES" with and without
quotes.

However, are you running the executable files within from Windows when you
get this error message and which Windows you are currently working with? If
you are running this program through Windows then probably you are executing
the wrong file. There are two kinds of executable file in Partition Magic.
One for Dos and One For Windows. If running within from Windows then try to
run it through shortcut available in Start Menu. Maybe you will not be able
to run Partition Magic's Dos mode program within from windows.

Hope this information helps, you let us know!

I get an error 117 when I run Partition Magic 8.0 (Windows XP) and the error
file says I should run it from DOS. I can get the directory changed to C:
\progra~1 but I cannot get to the sub-folder PartitionMagic 8.0 where the
executable file is located I've tried partit~1 but it can't find it.

How do I do that?
