I have tried just about everything and maybe I just don't get it but I still
can't get sound out of my speakers. One question I have is on the Sounds &
Audio Device Properties, on the Sound playback, is Realtek AC97 Audio or
Modem 0 Line Playback suppose to be chosen? Other than that I still can't
get them to work. Also Rock gave me a site to check out and I tried
everything on it and still nothing.

I do have Realtek AC97 myself, and I just updated the drivers. No
sound either... the solution for me was: unplug the speakers on the
back of your computer and plug them in again. You'll get a popup that
will ask you what you just did - confirm, and voila, my sound was
back. Maybe you should try this, who knows...
