Forcing a re-read of a CD/DVD Directory

Frequently if I explore several CD's or DVD's, Win Explorer will
continue to show the identical Label and directory info irrespective
of the individual media in the drive. neither a programatic or manual
eject will cause the system to re-read the directory contents. How do
I "flush" the old data and get the new? Thanks for any assistance.
