Re: File Transfer Problems

I never had this issue before, my PC has not moved physically.
My PC (XP SP2) has XP re-installed and all MS and IBM drivers
applied.

I try to copy 1 500MB file (.PST file) to our file server (Win2003
R2 Std SP1).
File transfer is around 2Mbps in our LAN, very unlike our network.
Do you have any tips to help troubleshoot this.

I copy one 500MB file FROM our file server at about 60Mbps.
During the copy of the file TO the file server, the PC is quite
slow, after about 4 or 5 minutes, the file copy times out with an
error "Cannot copy file XXX, path name too long" (or similar
message). I know that is not the case, both path names are under
255 characters and both (source destination) are NTFS drives.

Any help is appreciated.

Went to the network card manufacturer and updated the NIC driver?
Tried a different network cable?
Tried a different network connection (wall port)?

I'd go the driver route first.
Go to the Network Card manufacturer's web site...
Get the latest driver for that chipset/model NIC and install it.
