Re: Blue Screen Crashes on XP install

Gerry,

Problem resolved but I must say what caused "it" to change I have no idea.
"it" being the BIOS.

For some reason the BIOS had changed. I run an ASUS A7V333 Mobo with Athlon
2100+ CPU. The CPU clock speed was set to 1700 (and something). I reduced
this to 1300 and All OK in that I don't get bluse screens of death any more
and spybot runs OK. I can only assume the at around 1700 the CPU is on
overclocking knife edge.

Sorry I seem to have gone in a circle.

You could uninstall World of Warcraft and Spybot and then try running
SFC.

You mention checking for Spyware. You could try HijackThis.

Install and run HijackThis:
Download HijackThis (Freeware)
http://tomcoyote.com/hjt/

Finally run HijackThis and post the HijackThis log to the HijackThis
forum here:
http://aumha.net/

You will need to register with Aumha to be able to post.

What anti-virus checking have you done?

You have mentioned problems running Spybot and World of Warcraft.
Have you found problems with any others?

Gerry,

My original help request indicated that I'd tried a repair via recovery
console then a repair of existing windows install via recovery CD. In
both
cases got blue screen of death and stop codes as specified.

Gerry,

Thanks for your response, much appreciated. I have added my replies

your questions............

Have you tried running Spybot or another anti-spyware programme in

using
system recovery console.

Stop 0x7E
USBPORT.SYS address F76F9AD8 base at F76EF000

2. Reboot and start from XP Home recovery CD and attempt install
repair.

Stop 0xD1
Driver_IRQL_Not_Less__or_Equal

3. Retry Install Repair

Stop 0x24

4. Retry Install Repair

Stop 0x24
ntfs.sys Address F747BDB8 base at F7451000

5. Reboot from HDD.

This Ok. get to desk top and user account no problem. Run sfc
/scannow

Stop 0x0A
IRQL_not_Less_or_Equal

6. Reboot from HDD and leave well alone. PC "working" as long as
I
don't
try above or run spybot or run World of WarCraft.

Would really appreciate some step by step guidance to resolve.
