Can someone please explain (in easy steps!) how to create a boot cd
in Windows xp sp2. I have a bios upgrade that needs applying via a
boot disc, and as I don't have a floppy disc drive, I have been
told that I should be able to achieve the same result from a boot
cd.

Your Windows XP CD is bootable.
However - that is not the answer you really need in this case.

Something there should help you out. Maybe an ISO to burn or something.
You could burn a CD, make it bootable with some Windows 9x diskette image
file you grab and add your other files to it.

Thanks for the info and link. It's a great site with loads of utilities,
but unfortunately,as far as I can see.there is nothing to simply create a
boot cd. There are loads of options for boot cd's with utilities to "wipe"
disc etc. I presume that I should be able to create a bootable floppy on a
PC at work (that has a floppy drive) and copy the files from there onto a
cd, and then copy the bios upgrade on. Anyway, I am going to give it a go
and see what happens - nothing ventured etc.

Steve:
In addition to Shenan's suggestion, are you certain that a BIOS upgrade for
your motherboard can be undertaken *only* with a bootable floppy disk
containing the BIOS upgrade file(s)? Many, if not most motherboards produced
over the past few years optionally provide for a BIOS upgrade install
directly through the internet or alternatively downloading the BIOS upgrade
file and installing it through the BIOS firmware. So that in either case
there's no need for the bootable floppy disk or bootable CD process. If you
haven't done so already, you might want to check this out with your
motherboard's manufacturer.
