Are there any Error / Warning Reports in the System section of Event Viewer.
Please post copies.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&Product=winxp

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. This will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report
complete with links into the message. Make sure this is the first paste
after exiting from Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.

Hi, I am getting the most frustrating error messages and have tried
everything, including reading all the suggested fixes and trying the
majority
of them. I think the two error messages are somehow connected, as one
seems
to trigger the other.

Firstly i keep getting these .... referenced memory .... The memory could
not be read .... with a variety of numbers. Depending on which site I go
to, this could be caused by any number of factors, from spyware to
internet
add ons. I stated with the spyware, and that seemed okay for a while, but
then it became more frequent to point that it now keeps freezing my
(almost
new HP laptop). Sometimes it even appears before I log on, ie just after
i
have turned the machine on!!

The other problem is a Windows XP issue, but as they seem related i am
posting this here too. All too frequently, and especially around the
time
the above problem occurs, i get the error message to do with Windows XP
"Generic Host Process" error. The "Solution" says that it occurs after i
start or restart my computer, and I have had to do this frequently because
of
the freezing problem outlined above. The "Solution" says "The error
appears
in computers with Windows XP Service Pack 2 and security update 873333
(MS05-012) installed, and that Microsoft has realsed an update that fixes
tfhe problem I reported. Since I have Windows Update on automatic
installation and have tried to also do manual updates, i am at a loss to
understand why I continue to get this problem.

The third problem that is occuring, again I think related to the above
two,
is when I leave the machine on for a while, go away and come back. When i
hit the touchpad, all the icons and Windows logo are HUGE!! The only way
i
can get rid of it is, you guessed it, to shut down again! I have wasted
so
many hours on these problems it is unbelievable! i would be really
grateful
if someone could tell me what on earth is happening, or can suggested some
(truly tried and tested0 remedies. Many thanks. Trish (if I have
posted
this to the wrong site, please let me know!). Thanks.
