Should one format a hard disk before installing Ubuntu in FAT32?
Thanks,
Alias, who posted here because alt.os.linux.ubuntu is not available on
my news server.
SHOULD you? Probably. Can you get away with not doing it? Sure but I'd go ahead and format it (though the install should do that) just to be sure it was clean ahead of time.
Not sure I understand. The hard drive I want to use has stuff on it (WINXP, programs and data I don't need). Should I just wipe it, boot to the Ubuntu CD and use Ubuntu to format and partition it? I want to have two partitions, one for Ubuntu and the other for data. There won't be anything Windows on the drive.
Thanks,
Alias
