The same reason why so many buy a computer in another country and then come
here and ask how to change the language of Windows.
That is a regular question in these newsgroups because it is a regular
occurance..

But until the OP responds back and gives the relevant missing details, we
will not know the answer.

I find a small problem with your argument.

1. I meant that if the screen was in Chinese following any manual
wouldn't help if you can't read Chinese. Whether the manual be in English
or Chinese.

2. Your second argument negates the first one. You asked "Why would the
manual be in Chinese? Why would an English-reader have accepted a
Chinese-language manual when purchasing the computer?" I agree. That is
why your second argument makes no sense. So I'll ask you this question:
Why would the default language of the BIOS of a computer be in Chinese if
an English reader wouldn't accept a Chinese-language manual when
purchasing the computer? Wouldn't the default then be.......English?
