I do have 4 sets of their recovery disks mainly because they are very hard to read in my box. All my other DVD/CD
video, pictures and programs work fine but for some unknown reason I have a lot of trouble with their DVD.s.

This assumes the Ghost recovery cd you use to start the process has the

Ghost is an Imaging App, or 'backup' type app if you prefer
It appears your hd has gone bad and HP is going to replace it, which

Now the problem is that if your hd has gone bad, and the win
installation/boot partition is corrupted then if you Image/Backup with
you are in effect copying the corruption. So if you restore the sys

This isn't an exact interpretation, but I'm sure you'll understand.
You might be advised to install win and your apps and drivers from
media supplied by HP & others
I don't use Ghost but you should be able to recover any data files
