how do you know how computer literate you are? i am thinking about taking a medical coding class so i can work out of my home and i have a new windows xp and ive self taught myself for about 5 years now how to do the things i know how to do, which is e-mail i.m. shop, do searches, find different chat sites. i basically have never used any of my f keys at the top of my keyboard nor do i know what the right hand side keys are for past backspace and shift. one of the first things they tell you to do is brush up on your computer skills--but i dont know what they mean nor what level i would be considered or what i need to learn so i dont flunk out in the basic testing. thanks s much

One need not be computer literate and still be very successful at
medical coding. (This is a medical administrative field in itself.)
Computer skills are not required other than being able to do data
entry and access the network. However, advancement beyond the level
of coder will start demanding more computer skills, depending on the
path taken, such as dbase programming for performing database queries,
reporting and analytical operations or becoming an IT staffer needed
for maintaining the systems that coders use.
