It's very likely that you have a corrupted restore point that is causing the problem. All of the SP restore points depend on each other when restoring. To fix this, you need to turn off SR on all drives and then turn SR back on. This will delete all of the current restore points and refresh everything. See the following website for more information.

Hi.
I have a problem with my system restore. It seems I can make restore
point and they are also automatically made about every 4-7 days but
when ever I try to go back to a created point I am told after the
system reboots from the process it's "unable to restore" It worked in
the past it has only been the last while the it hasn't
Please keep it simple as the say I'm good looking but not very smart
Windows XP
Compaq Presario
2.7Ghz
Thanks
Peter
