Sorry, I can't help you with your dos start up. I have a similar problem...I can't get mine to shut off...

I was trying to restore the original settings on my old computer (Windows 98 system). I was told to shut down the computer, using "restart in MS-DOS. When I turn the computer back on it says "starting in MS".

I don't know how to get out of the dos....I need help with that...I'm not very good at figuring out what to do. I've tried just about everything.

Can anyone help me?

And good luck with your starting problem.

Just type

EXIT and press the Enter key.

If that doesn't work, type

WIN

or

WIN /X

(I really can't remember how the "X" is included..) None of this will help reset Windows settings, but it will get you back into Windows.
